The Sitecore Hackathon is a free, annual, 24-hour online competition. The Sitecore developer community imagines it, organizes it, judges it, and wins it. Every year, teams from around the world take that year's theme and turn it into a working Sitecore module they hand straight back to the community.
The brief
The rules are the same every year, and we write them to be unambiguous, because the judges genuinely need you to follow them. The theme itself drops about an hour before the clock starts, so every team gets it at the same moment.
How we judge
We read every submission closely. Our judges give their time to do it right. How the scoring works has shifted across editions: the first year's rules set out four scored criteria, and from 2015 the rules let each panel weigh entries against its own. These are the kinds of things that have counted over the years, not a fixed checklist:
Every submission is scored by a panel of volunteer community judges. They are Sitecore developers who give their time so every team gets a fair, thorough read.
